The Vision Council, headquartered in Alexandria, VA, represents the manufacturers and suppliers of the optical industry, and acts as the representative for vision care products and services.  We position our members to be successful in a competitive marketplace through education, advocacy, consumer outreach, strategic relationship building and industry forums. 

We are currently seeking a Marketing Manager to join our team.  This position is responsible for developing and implementing programs that educate current and potential member companies about the benefits of membership, with an emphasis on new revenue/growth programs targeting the industry at large.  

Responsibilities:

- Day to day management of the organization's member & industry marketing this includes creating an annual marketing plan for the organization overall as well as new specific programs as they arise. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Marketing plan creation & implementation
  • Project management of various marketing plan implementation activities from beginning (launch/prep) to end (year/program-end reporting & tracking)
  • Writing and editing for a wide range of activities and vehicles including print and electronic marketing pieces, website, newsletters and social media
  • Management of newly launched tvc.org website to include copywriting, information architecture, recommendations, etc.   
  • Serve as liaison with outside vendors and consultants regarding creative, marketing and social media services as it relates to the current member programs & initiatives
  • Monthly reporting regarding program success & necessary course adjustments
  • Work with Member Services department to communicated benefits of existing & new programs

- Serve as marketing & communications team liaison to other departments & staff regarding organizational marketing initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience preferably in an association or optical-related organization
  • Proficiency with Informz (or aptitude to grasp program rapidly)
  • Solid computer skills (Excel, word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience in member/optical marketing desired
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
